i need some proof for evolution

i told my parents i dont believe in god, i dont believe in all this mystical stuff it seems like magic to me.

i like science better, i believe in the big bang, and evolution.

my keeps asking for proof, he says he has the bible.

I personally believe the Big Bang is a plausible explanation which has some basis is science. I also believe in evolution for the same reason. I do not believe in the biblical explanation for the reason that it contradicts scientific fact and humans have been around alot longer than 6000 years.

The Big Bang theory is an explanation of how the universe evolved and it explains why the universe is expanding. It does not explain how the universe or matter originate. What created the ball of mass before it exploded? What caused the explosion (i.e. who lit the match)? I personally believe that a higher power is behind the seeds which were planted for the universe to sprout. I will believe that until science comes up with an explanation of how matter can be created from nothingness.

I have exchanged emails with Lawrence. I was put in touch with Lawrence by email through Randy.

Lawrence's civil suit is still going on. The last I heard it was put before a senior Justice for a pre-trial type review/case management. Usually a Justice will try to inspire a settlement in a process like this. If no settlement is reached then it proceeds to trial.

Lawrence is gathering evidence on various fronts with regard to his case. On this particular issue, Lawrence is seeking evidence of other cases where JWs have kidnapped children either to prevent a medical procedure or to prevent a non JW parent from seeing their children. If one has evidence or proof that the kidnapper was acting on advice from JW leaders or WT legal; so much the better for Lawrence's purposes.

Also, Lawrence has had past difficulties with navigating through this site or logging on. If anyone is interested in getting information to Lawrence it would probably be a good idea to PM "Dogpatch" (Randy) so that he can forward your info to Lawrence.

This seems so barbaric. There are many parts of the bible which are like this: promoting violence, sadistic etc. but this is the first time I read this one. Thanks for pointing it out Kwin.

me and the wife were fightitng again and she asked why i can't just go back and pretend or just forget all this... she said as an athnostic you either don't belive in god or don't believe that god cares so why can't you just go and fake it... i was dumbfounded i ask her why can't you just get the f*ck out and stop faking it... she stormed out and i sat down here..... so i ask ya, if you could forget all the negatives about the wbts (i know thats a lot) and just go back like nothing had ever happened would you?

Some people can live a lie. I personally could not participate in a cult or cult-like group just to make someone else happy.

On another note I would suggest to you that the severity of your wife's response might have been precipitated by your use of swearing whilst making your point. Men tend to do this when they feel strongly about something and many women tend to not enjoy being on the receiving end of strong comments where swear words are involved. I suggest a sincere apology to the Mrs. At a later time not connected to your apology try to explain your feelings on the matter. Spend time thinking in advance what you will say so it is not off the cuff and laced with raw emotion.

Need Help any Advice?

hi, i am somewhat new here although my feelings about the jw's haven't been.. anyway, i am doing the fade thing right now along with my husband.

everything was going fine i have not gone to a meeting in 5 months now(i think) and prior to that i was barely going i guess you could say every now and then.

however, going every now and, then i was going back and forth with my feelings.

I just need help on what to say and information on why the Jehovah's Witnesses are wrong and I am right on my thinking.

I am not quite sure why you feel that you are required to justify your feelings to your sister (or anyone else for that matter). Why must you prove to someone else that they are wrong and you are right? You would be engaging in a control battle. Why bother aggravating yourself?

Are you sure this is not something more like a desire to free your sister from the cult? If that is the case then a successful approach might very well be different from the one you are suggesting i.e. throwing information at her out of a defensive posture only when confronted by her.

The JW who did my mother's funeral talk was jailed in Western Canada (Saskatchewan) during WWII because of the ban on JW's.

I am currently trying to gather more information about this ban during WWII. I was well aware of the strange character in Quebec but I previously was not aware of a specific ban against JWs in WWII.

Was the ban during WWII a ban directed specifically at JWs or was it rather a blanket or general ban against any distribution by anyone (regardless of religious affiliation) of what would be considered material which would be anti-Government or subversive to Government decrees and laws (i.e. the draft)? I have not found anything specific on this yet so I would be very interested to know.
